Former Packers DB Mike C. McCoy dies at age 62

Associated Press

Mike C. McCoy, a former defensive back who intercepted 13 passes in an eight-year career with the Green Bay Packers, has died. He was 62.

The Packers said Monday in a blog post that McCoy was diagnosed with dementia in the last decade. No cause of death was given by the team.

His wife, Janet, told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in September that McCoy had to be moved to an assisted living facility. They lived in Thornton, Colorado.

McCoy played his entire NFL career with Green Bay after being drafted in the third round in 1976 from Colorado.

A native of West Memphis, Arkansas, McCoy recovered five fumbles in his career and averaged 22.0 yards as a kickoff returner.
