Deputy placed on leave for inappropriate conduct

A Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy has been placed on administrative leave while under investigation for “inappropriate conduct” that may be criminal in nature.

The allegation made by a third party on Wednesday is of a possible inappropriate relationship involving the deputy, said Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich.

“We’re not sure of the extent,” Knezovich said.

The Washington State Patrol will investigate the allegation because it is potentially a criminal matter, Knezovich said.

The deputy’s name is not yet being released because the victim has not been contacted and the investigation has not begun, he said.
