Valley crews put out fire in industrial lot

Spokane Valley fire crews quickly put out a fire in an industrial lot early Friday morning.

The blaze started around 4:30 a.m., when a semi truck caught fire inside a gated industrial area at 5825 E. Railroad Ave, Fire Marshal Greg Rogers said. Flames spread to two other vehicles parked in the lot.

Firefighters initially dispatched four engines and two ladders, but pulled back once they arrived on scene and realized no buildings were on fire. Crews had the fire out in about 15 minutes, Rogers said.

Investigators believe the fire started due to mechanical issues in the semi truck, but the cause is still under investigation, Rogers said.
