Tigers defeat Panthers behind Riley Lupfer’s 28 points

A fast start provided the difference for the Lewis and Clark girls basketball team Tuesday.

The Tigers jumped on the visiting Mead Panthers early as Lewis and Clark prevailed 67-59 in Greater Spokane League play.

Riley Lupfer led LC (7-3 overall, 7-1 league) with 28 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Brooklyn Howlett had 12 points, Taylor Cunningham added 10 and five assists and Jacinta Buckley had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Payton Douglass led Mead (5-4, 5-3) with 26 points, 14 coming in the second half.

Central Valley 71, Mt. Spokane 48: Leading by 11 points at halftime, the visiting Bears (10-0, 8-0) salted it away by outscoring the Wildcats (6-4, 4-4) 27-13 in the third quarter. Hailey Christopher led CV with 14 points, Lacie Hull had 14 with seven rebounds and Lexie Hull added 10 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Smith led Mt. Spokane with 20 points and Miahna Waters had nine rebounds.

University 64, North Central 46: After a tightly contested first half, the Titans (5-5, 5-3) pulled away in the final two quarters against the visiting Indians (3-7, 3-5). Kaitlin Pannell led U-Hi with 16 points, Claire Dingus had 14, 12 in the second half, and Courtney Awbery added 10. Megan Dean led NC with 16 and Sunny Ellenwood added 14.

Ferris 63, Rogers 18: Bria Bowton had 10 points and 10 assists, Lexi Erickson added 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Saxons (5-6, 4-5) handled the visiting Pirates (0-8, 0-7). Ferris built a 31-8 lead in the first half. Shaeli Morrison led Rogers with seven points.

Gonzaga Prep 47, Shadle Park 15: The Bullpups (4-6, 4-4) held the visiting Highlanders (0-9, 0-7) scoreless for 14 minutes, outscoring Shadle 16-0 in the second quarter. Grace Byrd led G-Prep with 10 points as 10 Bullpups scored. Tayler Drynan had eight assists.
