WV band, color guard picked to march in New York parade

The West Valley High School Marching Band and Color Guard has been selected to march in the 2016 Veteran’s Day Parade in New York City.

The band will also perform in the 15th anniversary 9/11 Patriotic Concert in Times Square, honoring police officers and firefighters from New York City and surrounding areas who died during the Sept. 11 attacks.

Band director Jim Loucks said the 80-member band must raise close to $100,000 in order for every student to be able to go.

Enrollment choice fair at Rogers on Saturday

Spokane Public Schools will host an Enrollment Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rogers High School, 1622 E. Wellesley Ave.

Representatives from the district and options programs will be there to answer questions.

Families can fill out choice applications online through Jan. 18 at www.spokane schools.org/enrollment.
