Coeur d’Alene holds off Moses Lake in overtime
Brody Lundblad recorded a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings held on for an 81-75 nonleague overtime win at Moses Lake on Thursday night.
Joey Naccarato added 28 points and 11 rebounds for Coeur d’Alene (10-1).
The Chiefs’ Ryan Karsetter sent the game to overtime when he hit his third 3-pointer to tie the game with 2 seconds left in regulation. Karsetter had 17 points for Moses Lake, while teammate Cesar Sandoval added 22 points.
St. Maries 67, Bonners Ferry 50: Brady Martin scored a game-high 22 points and the Lumberjacks rode a big second quarter to a win over the host Badgers.
Dakota Wilson and Jake Seiler added nine points apiece for the Lumberjacks (7-1), who outscored Bonners Ferry 26-6 in the second quarter behind 71-percent field-goal shooting.
Caleb Blackmoore scored a team-high 18 points and Caleb Harrington added 12 point for the Badgers (1-3).
Great Northern League
Clarkston 70, Pullman 62: Trevon Allen scored 20 of his game-high 31 points in the second half, Jett Sobotta kicked in 18 and the host Bantams outlasted the visiting Greyhounds.
Sobotta had a big first half for the Bantams (9-0, 2-0), helping stake his team to an eight-point lead by scoring 14 points before the break. Clarkston made 9 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter to close out the Greyhounds (9-1, 2-1), who kept it close behind a team-high 17 points from Jake Cillay and 16 points from Tim Pendry.
Girls basketball
Bayley Brennan scored 15 points as the Post Falls Trojans overcame a five-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the visiting Lake City Timberwolves 49-38 in Inland Epire League 5A action.
Brennan scored 11 points from the free-throw line as Lake City was whistled for 24 fouls. Melody Kempton added eight points and 15 rebounds for Post Falls (9-6, 2-0) and teammate AubreAnna Johnson added 10 rebounds.
Lauren Rewers led Lake City (12-3, 1-1) with 11 points.
Great Northern League
Clarkston 55, Pullman 37: Jaclyn Meyers led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Bantams defeated the visiting Greyhounds. Alea Wohl added 11 points and six rebounds for Clarkston (3-4, 2-0) . Becca Wickard had eight points and five rebounds for Pullman (4-6, 0-2).
Nonleague
Lewiston 50, Moscow 36: Cameron Cady scored 11 points as the visiting Bengals (10-4) eased past the Bears (3-6). Gracey Meyer scored a game-high 17 points for Moscow.
Kootenai 32, Coeur d’Alene Charter 24: Kaili Gentry had 13 points, seven rebounds and five steals as the Warriors (3-5) defeated the visiting Panthers (2-7). Grace McInturff added eight points for Kootenai.
GSL wrestling
University 38, Ferris 30: Clayton Fincher scored a key victory against the Saxons’ Manny Homen, breaking a 0-0 tie by reversing Homen and pinning him with 15 second left in the match to help the Titans (7-1) defeat the hosts.
Entering the final match with the score favoring U-Hi 32-30, the Titans’ Cam Sorensen pinned Josiah Malesic at 1:52 to seal the win over the Saxons (3-5).
Mt. Spokane 44, Shadle Park 25: The Wildcats’ Blake Haney recorded a key victory at 106 pounds, and the fastest pin of the night, by bringing down the host Highlanders’ Steven Troung in 16 seconds.
Mt. Spokane (4-3) controlled the match by recording four pins and two major decisions, including Jake Howerton’s 19-7 win over Austin Scouton of Shadle Park (2-6) in the 126-pound division.
North Central 42, Gonzaga Prep 30: Two-time state-placer Bryan Wais opened the night by picking up the first of three Indians forfeits on their way to a win over the host Bullpups.
The Indians (4-4) fell behind 27-12 after five-straight wins for G-Prep, but NC earned four pins – including three in the final five matches – to secure the dual victory.
The Bullpups (0-7) picked up a win in the final minute at 132 pounds when Austin Simmons scored a reversal for a 6-4 win.
Mead 55, Rogers 18: Devontae Goodman earned one of eight Panthers pins in a victory over the host Pirates.
Goodman got Mead (7-1) back on the winning side following back-to-back Pirate decisions at 132 and 138 pounds, picking up a 24-second pin over Austin Santiago.
State participant Eddy Smith (132 pounds) earned a decision for Rogers (0-8).
GSL gymnastics
The difference between first and second place was five-hundredths of a point in a pair of season-high outings for Mead and Mt. Spokane as the Wildcats walked away with 169.65 points and a miniscule victory over the runner-up Panthers (169.6) at the Mead/Mt. Spokane Gymnastics Center.
University placed third with 159.925 points, Ferris (139.875) was fourth and Shadle Park (109.5) fifth.
Mead’s Vella Conley came in first place in all-around with 35.9 points, winning in bars, floor exercise and vault, while Mt.Spokane’s Reigan Kampmann (34.675) came in third place all-around and finished second in both floor and vault. Jessica Harpel (34.8) finished in second place all-around for Ferris, finishing second on the beam.
