DiCaprio happy leaders taking climate change more seriously

DiCaprio
From wire reports

Leonardo DiCaprio feels optimistic that the debate over climate change has begun to wane and world leaders are finally starting to take it more seriously.

“The scientific community has been screaming out loud. Ninety-nine per cent of the scientific community is in agreement that man is contributing to (climate change),” DiCaprio told the Associated Press on the red carpet for his new film, “The Revenant” on Wednesday.

“The argument is over. Anyone that doesn’t believe that climate change is happening doesn’t believe in science,” said DiCaprio, who has remained an active player for the issue.

The actor previously has addressed the United Nations on climate control, donated millions of dollars to environmental causes, and narrated the 2014 short film, “Carbon,” which presents ideas for climate change solutions.

Janet Jackson says she’s recovering, denies cancer

Janet Jackson said she doesn’t have cancer, but she isn’t specifying the illness that interfered with a concert tour.

On her Twitter account Wednesday, Jackson posted a two-minute clip from her song “The Great Forever,” followed by a personal message in which she said she’s recovering but offered no further details. She said her doctors have approved her concerts as scheduled in Europe.

“The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering,” she posted, an apparent response to online reports that she was suffering from throat cancer.

Her announcement came less than two weeks after Jackson said she was postponing her “Unbreakable” tour to have an unspecified surgical procedure. She’s scheduled to perform in Europe in March.

Jackson’s ‘Off the Wall’ to be rereleased with Spike Lee doc

Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” is being reissued with a new Spike Lee documentary about the hallmark 1979 album.

Jackson’s estate and publisher Sony Music are rereleasing the 36-year-old album with a DVD of the film “Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to ‘Off the Wall’” on Feb. 26.

The documentary will premiere Jan. 24 at the Sundance Film Festival and will be broadcast Feb. 5 on Showtime.

Lee previously directed a documentary about Jackson’s “Bad” album for its 25th anniversary in 2012.

Katherine, Joe, Marlon and Jackie Jackson are among the family members who were interviewed for the new film.

Jackson’s estate has released several albums, reissues and soundtracks since his death in 2009 at age 50. His music has remained popular in recent years.
