Girls basketball roundup: Swannack guides LRS to seventh-straight win

Tommi Swannack led three players in double figures with 16 points and added 10 points as Lind-Ritzville/Sprague topped Davenport 45-38 in a Northeast 2B League game Friday night in Ritzville.

Tessa Jantz added 11 points and Peyton Curtis chipped in 10 points and five assists for the Broncos (8-3, 5-2), who have won seven straight.

Davenport’s Sydney Abbott scored 15 points and Meika Heath added 14. The Gorillas fell to 9-3 and 6-2 in league games.

Liberty 58, Wilbur-Creston 44: Christine Denny had 24 points, 11 steals, seven rebounds and six assists and the Lancers (7-5, 3-3) forced 26 turnovers in a win over the visiting Wildcats (4-6, 2-5). Madelynne Flaig and Maggie Nelson added 10 points apiece for Liberty.

Great Northern

East Valley 60, West Valley 33: The Knights (10-2, 3-0) remained tied with Clarkston atop the league standings with a win over the Eagles (4-7, 1-2) at East Valley. Hannah Burland and Elle Burland scored 16 points apiece for East Valley, which set the tone early with an 18-5 first-quarter run. West Valley’s Claire Sinner scored 10.

Clarkston 51, Cheney 29: Riley Denton scored 14 points and Jaclyn Meyers and Alea Wohl added 10 apiece as the Bantams (4-4, 3-0) took control from the get-go and eased past the host Blackhawks (3-7, 1-3). Kristie McGourin led Cheney with seven points and 11 rebounds.

Intermountain

Timberlake 77, Bonners Ferry 27: Keelie Lawler scored 16 points and Allison Kirby and Kayle Jezek added a combined 22 points as the Tigers (9-0, 3-0) took control from the outset in an easy win over the visiting Badgers (3-6, 0-2). Bonners Ferry’s Kerstin Oxford scored eight.

Northeast A

Freeman 53, Colville 36: Sydney Sather had 20 points, six steals and six rebounds to guide the Scotties (5-6, 3-2) past the visiting Indians (3-8, 1-4). Cassidy Crosswhite added 12 for Freeman. Kayla Morris and Baylee Main scored a combined 23 points for Colville.

Riverside 32, Chewelah 31: Julianna Trepanier scored a game-best 12 points and the Rams (4-5, 3-2) drew a charging call with 4 seconds left to preserve a win over the host Cougars (6-3, 4-1). Chewelah pulled within one point when Jaelynn Skok hit 1 of 2 free throws with 20 seconds left. Riverside shot 12 of 24 from the line while Chewelah was 9 for 22.

Northeast 1B

Wellpinit 67, Curlew 18: Fawn Ford and Christina Carden combined for 25 points and the Redskins (3-6, 2-2) eased past the host Cougars (2-8, 1-6). Darian Pakootas and Gabby McCullough added nine points apiece for Wellpinit, which had a 35-20 rebounding edge.

Odessa-Harrington 56, Cusick 42: Katie DeWulf had 18 points, six assists and four rebounds as the Titans (2-7, 2-2) pulled away in the second half and beat the Panthers (4-5, 4-3) in Odessa. Lanessa Simon added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six steals for Odessa-Harrington. Renee Wynne led Cusick with 16 points.

Valley Christian 52, Northport 32: Phoebe Trigsted scored 21 points on 8-of-8 shooting and grabbed six rebounds as the Panthers (6-4, 4-1) opened the game on a 25-9 run and eased past the visiting Mustangs (2-7, 1-5). Ashtyn Baribault scored 15 for Northport, which committed 24 turnovers.

Republic 72, Columbia 5: The Tigers (11-0, 6-0) held the Lions (0-7, 0-5) scoreless in three quarters and cruised to the easy win in Hunters. Republic’s Carlie Rittel scored 18 points and Kiana Koepke added 14.

Southeast 1B

Oakesdale 51, St. John-Endicott 48: Jacey Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Lindsey Lindgren and Logan Reed added a combined 25 points as the Knighthawks (8-3, 2-2) edged the visiting Eagles (6-5, 2-3). Anne Hockett added eight points and eight rebounds for Oakesdale. St. John-Endicott’s Abby Glorfield scored 16.

Pomeroy 69, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 22: Sydney Smith led four players in double figures with 19 points and the Pirates routed the Tigercats in LaCrosse. Pomeroy used an 18-1 second-quarter run to go ahead 37-7 at the half.

Liberty Christian 62, Garfield-Palouse 35: Karlee Souve had 21 points and 13 rebounds and the Patriots topped the Vikings (3-7, 1-4) in Palouse. Keely Burnes led Garfield-Palouse with 18 points.

North Star

Wallace 58, Genesis Prep 49: Maryssa Hogamier hit four 3-pointers and scored 22 points to guide the Miners past the Jaguars in Post Falls. Wallace set the tone early with a 21-8 first-quarter run. Genesis Prep’s Rachel Schroeder scored 22.

Nonleague

Post Falls 69, Glacier 38: Melody Kempton scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in the decisive first half and added 10 rebounds as the Trojans (10-6) dumped the visiting Wolfpack. Bayley Brennan added 12 points and Amber Ter Maaten chipped in nine points and eight rebounds for Post Falls, which shot 58 percent from the field. The Trojans made four first-quarter 3-pointers and took a 25-7 lead.
