GSL girls basketball: Top-ranked Central Valley doubles up Mead 56-28
The Central Valley girls basketball team doubled its pleasure Friday.
The No. 1-ranked Bears ran away from the visiting Mead Panthers 56-28 in Greater Spokane League play.
Lexie Hull led the Bears (11-0 overall, 9-0 league) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Hailey Christopher added 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots.
Payton Douglass led Mead (5-5, 5-4) with 12 points.
Lewis and Clark 72, Mt. Spokane 30: The Tigers (8-3, 8-1) got out fast, outscoring the visiting Wildcats (6-5, 4-5) 20-7 in the first quarter and never looking back. Taylor Cunningham led four Tigers in double figures with 20 points and freshman Jacinta Buckley had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jaidyn Lyman led the Wildcats with 13 points.
Gonzaga Prep 74, Ferris 42: The Bullpups (5-6, 5-4) used a 14-2 surge in the second quarter to on their way to routing the visiting Saxons (5-7, 4-6). Tayler Drynan led G-Prep with 23 points while making 7 of 11 3-point attempts and Molly McDermott added 17. Abby Muelheim led Ferris with 20.
University 43, Shadle Park 35: The visiting Titans (6-5, 6-3) broke open a two-point game at half in the final two periods against the Highlanders (1-10, 1-8). Claire Dingus led U-Hi with 13 points and Brooke Bailey had 10. Willow Risinger led Shadle with 11.
North Central 63, Rogers 35: The Indians (4-7, 4-5) opened a 35-14 in the first half against the visiting Pirates (0-10, 0-8). Freshman Quincy McDeid led NC with 18 points, Megan Dean had 14 and Sunny Ellenwood added 10. Atyzha Upton led Rogers with 14.
