Girls basketball: Sather hits five 3-pointers in Freeman’s win over Newport

Sydney Sather made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points and Freeman took over sole possession of second place in the Northeast A League with a 43-34 win over Newport on Friday night in Freeman.

Hannah Hansen added 15 points for the Scotties (9-8, 7-4), who held the Grizzlies (7-10, 6-5) to just one point in the second quarter.

Newport’s Cydni Lewis scored 10.

Colville 46, Medical Lake 33: Baylee Main scored 14 points and Josie Cox added 13 as the Indians (5-12, 3-8) opened the game on a 17-2 run and beat the host Cardinals (5-12, 4-7). Medical Lake’s Bradyn Wegner scored eight.

Chewelah 47, Deer Park 33: Maggie Cobb scored 18 points and Kyrstan Miller added 10 as the Cougars (10-7, 6-5) used a 13-5 third-quarter run to pull away and beat the visiting Stags (2-14, 2-9). Deer Park’s Destanne Sunchild scored eight.

Lakeside 45, Riverside 30: Sienna Swannack had 12 points and five rebounds as the Eagles (14-3, 10-1) built a 18-point first-half lead and eased past the Rams (7-8, 6-5) in Nine Mile Falls. Riverside’s Olivia Willis scored 12.

Intermountain

Priest River 49, Bonners Ferry 47: Avery Summers had 14 points and 13 rebounds and hit two free throws with 2.7 seconds left to send the Spartans (11-7, 3-2) past the visiting Badgers. Rachel Akre and Alyssa Carey added a combined 27 points for Priest River. Bonners Ferry’s Miranda Wenk and Trinity Golder scored 12 points apiece.

Northeast 2B

Kettle Falls 64, Wilbur-Creston 51: Erin Johnson made six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 32 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-12, 4-9) past the visiting Wildcats (5-12, 2-11). Makayla Hall added 12 points and eight rebounds for Kettle Falls. Wilbur-Creston’s Karlee Maioho and Alicia Johnson combined for 23 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 48, Liberty 42: Tessa Jantz made all 11 of her free throws and finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Broncos (14-6, 10-4) past the Lancers (10-9, 6-7) in Ritzville. Liberty’s Christine Denny scored 18.

Northeast 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 69, Wellpinit 39: Brenna Oliver scored 22 points and Gabi Isaak added 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Warriors (16-2, 13-1) dumped the Redskins (7-10, 6-6) in Coulee City. ACH put the game away with a 21-6 third-quarter run. Wellpinit’s Christina Carden scored nine.

Republic 80, Inchelium 30: Demi Jo Vaughn scored 23 points, Carlie Rittel added 19 and the Tigers (17-1, 12-1) stymied the Hornets (2-12, 1-11) after a competitive first quarter and won in Inchelium. Republic led 16-13 after the first quarter, but limited Inchelium to 17 points the rest of the way. Olivia Williams scored 13 for the Hornets.

Cusick 49, Northport 21: Racheal Wynne scored 15 points and the Panthers (9-7, 9-4) used a hot start in an easy win over the visiting Mustangs (5-12, 3-10). Cusick outscored Northport 27-3 in the second quarter to take a 34-point lead into the half. The Mustangs’ Ashtyn Baribault scored eight.

Selkirk 57, Curlew 11: Hannah Rick had 20 points and 10 rebounds and the Rangers (11-6, 9-4) overwhelmed the Cougars (3-13, 2-11) in Ione. Selkirk’s Whitney Dawson added 13 points and Jenna Couch chipped in eight points and 11 steals.

Odessa-Harrington 63, Columbia 20: Maleah Davison scored 15, Katie DeWulf added 14 and the Titans (7-10, 7-4) opened the game on a 28-3 run in an easy win over the Lions (0-14, 0-11) in Harrison. Columbia’s Shaylee Rice scored 13 and Bessie Hill pulled down 10 rebounds.

Southeast 1B

Oakesdale 61, Pomeroy 51: Jacey Johnson had 28 points, eight rebounds and six assists and the Nighthawks (9-8, 4-7) stormed back in the second half to beat the visiting Pirates. Oakesdale made just 2 of 13 shots in the second quarter and was outscored 17-5, but outscored Pomeroy 41-22 in the second half. Johnson made 9 of 19 shots and 7 of 9 free throws and Anne Hockett chipped in 15 points for the Nighthawks.

Colton 68, Liberty Christian 48: Zoe Moser scored 23 of her game-high 27 points in the first half and Meghan Devorak added 16 points as the Wildcats (16-1, 11-0) topped the visiting Patriots.

Touchet 52, Garfield-Palouse 35: Cierra Jo McKeown made 13 of 14 free throws and finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Indians pulled away in the second quarter and beat the Vikings (8-9, 4-7) in Palouse. Touchet made 24 of 28 from the free-throw line. Payson Griner had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Garfield-Palouse.

St. John-Endicott 61, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 16: Gracie Dickerson scored 16 points and the Eagles (8-9, 4-7) routed the host Tigercats (3-14, 1-12). Jadyn Corder and Glory Dickerson added 10 points apiece for St. John-Endicott.

Central Idaho

Grangeville 60, Coeur d’Alene Charter 20: Hailey Sullivan had 17 points and nine steals and the Bulldogs (9-6, 4-1) came away with 22 steals in an easy win over the Panthers (3-13, 0-4) in Granveville.

Nonleague

Lake City 59, Lakeland 15: Whitney Meier scored 18 points and Kate Maryon added 10 points, eight rebounds and six steals as the Timberwolves (16-4) routed the Hawks (4-14) in Coeur d’Alene. Lake City opened the game on a 20-3 run and led 34-6 at the half.

Moscow 32, Post Falls 28: Gracey Meyer scored 10 points and the Bears edged the visiting Trojans (12-9). Post Falls’ Abigail Gennett scored 12.
