Area roundup: Gonzaga’s Mills, Fraley set school records in 3,000 meters
Gonzaga’s Shelby Mills and Troy Fraley each set school records in the 3,000-meter run Saturday at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle.
Fraley finished in 7 mintes, 59 seconds and took fifth place. He broke his own school-record of 8:04.37, which he set two weeks ago on the same track.
Mills finished in 9:35.31, breaking Lindsay Drake’s previous record of 9:36.11.
Eastern Washington’s Kaytlyn Coleman won the women’s weight throw with a toss of 60 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
Junior hockey
Columbia Valley (25-19-0-0-0) scored four unanswered second-period goals and beat the Spokane Braves 6-3 in a KIJHL game in Invermere, British Columbia.
Connor Mcintosh scored twice for Spokane (6-35-0-0-4).
Football
The Spokane Empire signed defensive lineman Harold Legania. Legania played for four years at the University of Minnesota and competed in the Minnesota Vikings’ rookie minicamp in 2015.
