Humans digging own grave

Susan Bacon (Jan. 19) may very well be right that all the people on Earth could fit inside of Texas. However, it would be very short-sighted to not accept that it would still take all of the Earth’s resources to feed, house, transport, etc. all of these humans.

Just the waste created by a Texas filled with 7 billion (and growing) humans would fill a couple other states to the borders. How about the fields it takes to grow all of the food that feeds 7 billion humans? What would everyone do to generate a living, if they had no factories, mines and other industries to work?

Bacon’s assertion that “people are our greatest resource!” sounds a whole lot like she plans on making “soylent green” out of them when there is nothing else to eat on Earth. The head in the sand attitude, of saying “there is no population problem,” is destroying the planet. The human species is digging its own grave and the graves of every other species, one conception at a time.
