Understanding Iran

If anyone is interested in knowing why the United States and Britain are so hated by the Iranian people, I recommend reading “The Coup” by Ervand Abrahamian. The author goes back to 1901 and explains how Britain exploited Iran’s (Persia’s) oil industry.

Later on (1953), the U.S., Britain and other countries conspired to oust a democratically elected government and reinstall the deposed shah. This in turn eventually led to the 1979 revolt and the overthrow of the shah and the takeover of the U.S. embassy. The book is available at the Spokane County Library District.
