CORBETT, Ore. – A 93-year-old Corbett man has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash that authorities believe was caused by distracted driving.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says 64-year-old Michael Taylor was trying to turn left off the Historic Columbia River Highway on Thursday when he went in front of a Honda driven by 93-year-old Shelby Warren Nicks.
The Honda overturned and Nicks died at the scene. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the chest.
The sheriff’s office said Taylor was charged with criminally negligent homicide and reckless driving.
