BOTHELL, Wash. – A 65-year-old truck driver was killed when his semi hit a cement barrier on a ramp near Bothell and crashed on Interstate 405 below.

The Seattle Times reported Alan L. Mooney died at the scene late Friday.

The Washington State Patrol said the truck’s cab detached from the trailer and fell onto the highway, damaging five vehicles.

KING-TV reported the fatal crash closed I-405 in both directions late Friday.

A driver who witnessed the crash told KING-TV that he saw the truck’s front wheels pitch into the air and then the rest of the vehicle rode the guardrail before falling off the ramp.

The roadway was reopened just before 6 a.m. Saturday.
