Spokane Empire running back Trevor Kennedy was named the 2016 Indoor Football League Offensive Rookie of the Year, the league announced on Thursday.
Despite missing the final three games after suffering a broken leg, Kennedy finished with IFL highs in rushing yards (720), touchdowns (27) and total points scored (237). He was third in the league with 1,613 all-purpose yards.
Kennedy was also the only running back to rush for four TDs in four separate games this season.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Quinnipiac Bobcats will meet for the first time when the two teams square off in the opening round of the 2016 AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando, Florida, on Nov. 24.
Gonzaga is 6-0 all-time in the tournament. The Zags beat Tennessee for the 2008 title and knocked off Davidson for the 2012 title. The event will be held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
