Judging neighbors on the basis of those yellow SR delivery tubes
I know it’s self-serving as hell.
But I have long thought the presence of a Spokesman-Review tube was a sign that the person who lives there is at least 1% more substantial in terms of reasonableness and character than the average Inland Northwesterner.
I like to think that if I needed help, someone in one of those houses with the yellow boxes would lend a hand. Not that others wouldn’t, mind you. But you know what I mean.
There are, of course, exceptions. Oh boy, are there exceptions.
Still, I wonder if I am the only one who ascribes positive personality traits to being a newspaper subscriber.
