Man breaks into home while family sleeps, makes himself coffee

A Spokane family woke up Thursday morning to find a stranger sleeping on their living room couch despite their securely locked doors.

The man was discovered shortly after 6 a.m. and the family woke the man and told him to leave, according to court documents. He claimed that “Jennifer” let him in, but no one named Jennifer lives there, the family told police.

The family told police that the man shaved and made himself a cup of coffee while inside of the home. One woman said a man she didn’t know sat on her bed around 4:30 a.m. while she was sleeping, but she assumed he was a friend of the homeowners and went back to sleep, according to court documents.

Police searched the area and found Brady M. Olds, 45, whom the family identified as the person they found on their couch.

Police believe Olds entered the home through a kitchen window. He is facing a charge of residential burglary.
