Three injured in fiery crash on Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie

Associated Press

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. – A fiery crash blocked traffic on eastbound Interstate 90, injuring three people.

Fire and rescue officials say that the driver of a truck didn’t notice traffic had stopped on the highway just west of State Route 18 and rear-ended a car, causing a chain reaction with several other vehicles, KOMO TV reported.

The truck and one of the cars involved in the crash caught fire, and firefighters say an off-duty Seattle police officer pulled a crash victim from one of the burning cars.

Washington State Patrol troopers say one of the victims was transported to the hospital in serious condition, and another person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third victim wasn’t hospitalized.

All lanes of eastbound I-90 were blocked as firefighters worked to extinguish the car fires. Two lanes of the highway have since reopened.
