Power restored in Spokane Valley

Avista Utilities reported that the power went out for nearly 6,000 customers in south Spokane Valley around 3:45 p.m., but the lights were back on by 5 p.m.

The outages were concentrated south of Sprague Avenue, east of the Dishman Hills Natural Area and west of Highway 27.

Avista spokeswoman Debbie Simock said the outage was caused by a power pole fire on the transmission line that feeds into a substation on Dishman-Mica Road.
