Stream on Demand: ‘The Boss,’ ‘Sing Street,’ ‘Barbershop’ sequel come to television

What’s new for home viewing on video-on-demand and Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming services.

Pay-Per-View / Video-On-Demand

Melissa McCarthy is The Boss,” a disgraced financial titan who turns a youth cookie drive into a hardball sales campaign. The R-rated comedy is available in an unrated version. Also on DVD and Blu-ray and at Redbox.

Sing Street,” from filmmaker John Carney (“Once”), tells an age-old story: Boy meets girl, boy starts band to impress girl, music is made. PG-13. Also on DVD and Blu-ray.

Also new: The crime thriller Criminal with Kevin Costner as an inmate given the mind of a dead CIA operative (R), the comedy Barbershop: The Next Cutwith Ice Cube and Cedric The Entertainer (PG-13), and Hardcore Henry,” a thriller seen through the eyes of a man in extreme situations (R).

Available same day as select theaters nationwide is Into the Forest,” a science fiction thriller starring Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood (R), and arriving before theaters is the thriller Edge of Winter with Joel Kinnaman (R).

Netflix

The Netflix original movie Tallulah (2016) stars Ellen Page as a homeless girl who kidnaps a baby from a negligent single mother and takes refuge with lonely Allison Janney. Not rated.

The underdog sports dramaMy All American (2015) stars Finn Wittrock as real-life college football player Freddie Steinmark. PG.

Foreign affairs: From Norway comes the disaster film The Wave (2015) (R, subtitled) and from Israel comes the award-winning family drama Baba Joon (2015) (not rated, subtitled).

Kid stuff: The new Netflix animated series Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh,” a spinoff of the animated feature “Home,” plus Popples: Season 3 and LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One: Season 2.”

Amazon Prime Video

Z for Zachariah (2015) is a science fiction parable starring Margot Robbie, Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor as survivors of the apocalypse. PG-13. Also on Hulu.

Streaming TV: The plundering continues on Vikings: Season 4 from The History Channel and Defiance: Season 3 is the final season of the SyFy series.

Streaming TV: The CBS cop drama Blue Bloods: Season 6 and modern Sherlock Holmes spin Elementary: Season 4 and the FX horror series The Strain: Season 2 are now available.

HBO Now

Sandra Bullock is an American political consultant in South America in Our Brand Is Crisis (2015), a political satire based on real events. R.

Looking: The Movie (2016) brings closure to the HBO original series set in San Francisco. Not rated.
