Man reports tackling half-naked rape suspect

A woman’s boyfriend reportedly interrupted an attempted rape and chased down and tackled the half-naked suspect recently in North Spokane.

The woman and her boyfriend were in a neighbor’s apartment visiting when the woman decided to go back to her apartment next door and go to bed, according to court documents. A man who had been in the neighbor’s apartment apparently followed her.

The victim told police that the suspect, later identified as Clando Anitok, 22, held her down and then began to strangle her, according to court documents. Her boyfriend came home during the attempted assault and she was able to call for help, she told police.

Her boyfriend told police that he spotted a man naked from the waist down in his apartment and chased him outside, tackling him in some nearby bushes.

The woman had red marks on her neck and a bruise on her arm, according to court documents.

Clando has been charged with attempted rape, second-degree assault and first-degree burglary with a sexual motivation. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
