Golf: When Lydia Ko won the last two major championships, she was the one lurking behind.

On Sunday at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington, the top-ranked Ko will take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

“I can’t control what the other girls are doing,” the 19-year-old Ko said. “So (I’ll) just try my best out there. We’ve still got a long 18 holes to go.”

Ko shot a 1-under 70 on Saturday to reach 2-under 211. She won the Evian Championship in September in France for her first major title and took the ANA Inspiration in April in California, giving her a chance to become the fifth player in tour history to win three straight majors.

Berger keeps lead at St. Jude Classic: Daniel Berger has yet to win on the PGA Tour. He’s confident enough to believe that’s just a matter of time, and he has put himself in position to make the FedEx St. Jude Classic his first title.

Having Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker just three strokes behind isn’t shaking his self-assurance either.

“If it was Tiger Woods behind me, I would have the same mentality,” Berger said Saturday after a 1-under 69 that left him with the same three-stroke lead he had after 36 holes. “It doesn’t matter. It’s golf. The golf course doesn’t know who is playing it, so I’m just going to go out there and be aggressive and have some fun, and that’s all I can do.”

Langer all alone under par at Senior Players: Bernhard Langer was all alone under par at windy Philadelphia Cricket Club.

The 58-year-old German star also was in position to win the Constellation Senior Players Championship for the third straight year, sitting at 2-under 208 for a three-stroke lead over Jay Don Blake with a round left.

After playing the first 11 holes in 2 over with two birdies and four bogeys, Langer birdied the par-4 12th to get back to even par for the tournament. He added birdies on the par-5 15th and par-3 16th and closed with two pars on the A.W. Tillinghast-designed Wissahickon Course.

Langer won in 2014 at Fox Chapel in Pittsburgh and last year at Belmont in Massachusetts.

Police in the Mediterranean port city fired tear gas and water cannons at fighting supporters in a largely unsuccessful attempt to rein in trouble that authorities said left at least five people injured.
