Indians even record at 2-2 with 7-1 win at Tri-City

KENNEWICK – The Spokane Indians joined the club.

All four members of the Northwest League North Division have 2-2 records after the Indians opened a three-game series with a 7-1 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils on Monday night.

Seth Spivey and Travis Bolin drove in two runs each and a trio of Indians pitchers limited the Dust Devils to five hits while striking out nine.

Spively and Preston Scott had sacrifice flies in a three-run first inning that got the Indians going. Spivey added his second RBI with a double in the second as the Indians opened the margin to 5-0.

Bolin’s two-out triple in the top of the ninth added two insurance runs.

Meanwhile, pitchers Luke Lanphere, Kevin Lenik and Tyler Ferguson kept the Dust Devils in check. Lanphere (1-0) got the win, allowing three hits while stricking out two in 5 2/3 innings; Lenik gave up two hits with two strike outs in 1 1/3 innings; and Ferguson slammed the door with two no-hit innings, striking out five, including three in the ninth inning.

The Indians parlayed two singles with a couple of errors, one allowing a run to score, and the two sacrifice flies in the first. In the second, Spivey doubled in a run and scored the second on a Carlos Garay single to right field.

Tri-City scored in the third on a Josh Magee triple.
