Warm summer weather in store for Hoopfest
Hoopfest on Saturday and Sunday should bring some fine summer weather after a round of cooler and possibly damp weather on Friday.
A low-pressure system crossing the region on Friday should blow out of the area by the time the competition starts on Saturday morning.
It will be a big change from 2015 when a heat wave drove temperatures to 105 on the opening day and 102 on the second day of the annual 3-on-3 basketball event.
Rain showers and gusty winds from the southwest are expected on Friday.
An unstable atmosphere caused by low air pressure may also bring thunderstorms to the area.
A tenth to a quarter inch of rain are possible in Spokane on Friday.
The high may only reach the middle 60s on Friday.
Things turn around on Saturday when the high should reach the middle 70s under mostly sunny skies.
Sunday should be mostly sunny with a high of 85.
