Two men killed in speeding car crash along I-90 in Post Falls

From staff reports

A Bonners Ferry man and a Florida man were killed early Sunday morning when their speeding car crashed and rolled on an Interstate 90 off-ramp on the east end of Post Falls.

The driver, Robert L. Gust, 24, of Bonners Ferry, died at the scene of the crash at the westbound off-ramp to state Highway 41, the Idaho State Police said Sunday.

A passenger, Christopher J. Erickson, 25, of DeLand, Florida, was taken to Kootenai Health, where he died, police said.

A second passenger, Colton B. Teleford, 23, of Moyie Springs, Idaho, was injured and taken to Kootenai Health.

Teleford was wearing a seat belt, but Gust and Erickson were not, police said.

The crash happened about 12:50 a.m. Sunday. The 2002 Volkswagen Passat was traveling at high speed when Gust failed to negotiate the curve on the off-ramp. The car rolled into the median, crossed over the westbound on-ramp and came to rest on the bottom of the embankment at Primrose Lane, police said.
