Stream on Demand: ‘Kung Fu Panda 3,’ ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’ among the titles coming home

What’s new for home viewing on video-on-demand and Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services.

In Kung Fu Panda 3(2016), the roly-poly martial arts master Po (voiced by Jack Black) battles an evil warrior from the spirit realm with the help of his newfound family. The colorful, energetic DreamWorks Animation adventure offers likable characters and lessons in teamwork and is fine for young kids. Also on Blu-ray and DVD. PG.

Also new: the comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot(2016) with Tina Fey as a combat reporter in Afghanistan and the drone warfare drama Eye in the Sky (2015) with Helen Mirren and Alan Rickman in his final screen performance. Both R and both on DVD.

Netflix

Anna Friel stars in Marcella: Season 1 as a London cop who returns to the high-pressure Murder Squad job after a 12-year break. It debuts stateside on Netflix. Eight episodes.

More streaming TV: The fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles: Season 1 from MTV, the French-language spy satire A Very Secret Service: Season 1,” and the Netflix originals Marco Polo: Season 2 and Between: Season 2.”

New movies: Life (2015) with Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan as James Dean (R), the Back to the Future (1985) trilogy (PG), four Lethal Weapon (1987) pictures (R), the original Beverly Hills Cop (1984) with Eddie Murphy (R), Working Girl (1988) with Melanie Griffith (R), and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) with Marilyn Monroe (not rated).

Amazon Prime Video

Brie Larson won the Best Actress Oscar for Room (2015), the touching drama of a mother who devotes herself to nurturing the spirit of her young son while held captive. It’s more uplifting than it sounds. R.

Also new: Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) and Volume 2 (2004), Martin Scorsese’s Casino (1995), Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980), and Paul Thomas Anderson’s offbeat Punch Drunk Love (2002), all rated R.

From Britain comes Banished,” about the first English settlers in Australia, and the crime drama DCI Banks: Season 4.” Also new: the Cartoon Network comedy Rick and Morty: Season 2 and the complete Disney channel shows Gravity Falls and Dog with a Blog.”

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), the second film in the young adult sci-fi franchise, releases the boys from the maze and into an even more dangerous world. PG-13.
