Spokane Chiefs fire blanks, lose to Kamloops Blazers

KAMLOOPS, British Columbia – Matt Revel and Jake Kryski each had a goal and an assist to power the Kamloops Blazers to a 5-0 victory over the Spokane Chiefs in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night at Sandman Centre.

The win was a big one for Kamloops (30-25-5-4, 69 points), which moved into sixth place in the Western Conference – a point ahead of Portland (32-27-4-0, 68) and two points ahead of Spokane (29-25-5-4, 67), which currently holds the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Tri-City (30-30-2-1, 63) is also in the mix for a postseason berth. The Chiefs have nine games left in the regular season.

Matt Needham’s power-play goal at 18:01 in the first period got the Blazers started.

Kryski and Revel added second-period scores.

Spokane, which is still missing its top three players due to injuries, has scored just four goals in its last five games.

The Chiefs play at Prince George on Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 7 p.m.
