Idaho boys state basketball: Genesis Prep captures third place

Jonny Hillman scored 21 points as Genesis Prep of Post Falls defeated Clark County 57-30 on Saturday in the third-place game of the Idaho 1A Division II State boys basketball tournament at Caldwell High.

Hillman shot 8 of 12 from the floor, including 5 of 8 on 3-pointers. Caleb Symons added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Jaguars (20-5).

Genesis Prep took control by outscoring the Bobcats 20-5 in the second quarter. Clark County shot 12 of 50 from the floor, including 2 of 19 on 3-pointers.

Rocky Mountain 66, Lewiston 54: Jacob Erickson led four players in double figures with 16 points, hitting 4 of 9 on 3-pointers, as the Grizzlies rallied to defeat the Bengals (12-9) in the consolation game at Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.

Kobe Terashima added seven assists for the Grizzlies, who trailed 25-20 at halftime but outscored Lewiston 25-11 in the third quarter.

Trystan Bradley scored 14 points, Braeden Wilson had 13 and Riley Way added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Bengals.

Wendell 71, St. Maries 62: Johnny Lancaster scored 30 points, hitting 5 of 9 on 3-pointers and 9 of 14 overall from the field, as the Trojans built a big lead and held back the Lumberjacks (21-5) in the third-place game at Capital High.

Logan Bowers added 11 rebounds for the Trojans, who built 38-23 halftime lead.

Brady Martin led St. Maries with 20 points and 14 rebounds, shooting 8 of 14 from the field. Jake Sieler scored 17 points and Kiefer Gibson added 13.
