Avista customers should get price reduction

Regarding the many articles about Avista putting in for rate increases to offset the costs of the windstorm: It was reported in The Spokesman-Review that even after the windstorm damage, Avista still made over $123 million last year, down from $192 million in 2014. Boo-hoo for Avista.

How many homeowners (majority) had to eat the costs of fallen trees and damage due to “acts of God?” The $23 million spent by Avista for the windstorm should be a lesson, along with the money spent every year to trim branches away from the lines. Avista should have buried the lines in the 1970s, instead of using a 19th century infrastructure.

Instead, they will try to recoup their losses from the public. Natural gas is at the price levels of when Clinton was in office in 1999. We should be getting a huge price reduction in natural gas, as well as electricity.

Don’t be sheep, people. Contact the Utilities and Transportation Commission and the state attorney general’s office.
