Associated Press

NEW YORK – A police spokesman said a New York City police officer had been shot Tuesday and two suspects taken into custody.

New York Police Department spokesman Carlos Nieves said on Twitter the shooting happened Tuesday evening in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. He said two suspects were taken into custody and police were looking for a third person.

A spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio said the officer was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens but provided no details on the officer’s condition. De Blasio was expected to hold a news conference at the hospital later Tuesday evening.
