College softball: Raynor home run powers North Idaho past SW Oregon in opener

Analisa Raynor hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the fourth inning and Katie Barron shut down Southwestern Oregon’s bats Thursday as the North Idaho Cardinals defeated the host Raccoons 3-1 in Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams in Coos Bay, Oregon. Barron allowed one earned run on two hits, striking out seven over seven innings.

Sasquatch earn split

Michele Strauss came in from the bullpen to stop the bleeding during a 10-run inning in the opener and went the distance in the completion of a doubleheader split between the Community Colleges of Spokane and Mesa in Mesa, Arizona. Spokane lost the season-opening game 10-1 and won the second 5-3. Ashlynn Bocook had three hits for CCS.
