Rewrite DNC rules
The vice-chair of the DNC resigns in order to support Bernie Sanders, but the chair of the DNC can openly support Hillary Clinton. As a Democrat, the more aware I have become of the DNC rules, the less I feel that the DNC is actually a positive force in the electoral process.
The DNC’s involvement in the process of choosing a person to represent the Democratic Party should be allowed to take place free of any public declarations of support from the committee itself, therefore enabling that choice to made by the unencumbered vote of the electorate. The DNC should be encouraging an open discussion of the issues between all viable candidates without attempting to influence the outcome.
Simply put, if you are a member of the DNC, you should not be able to openly support a specific candidate during the nomination process unless you are willing to resign your membership in the DNC. Once that candidate is chosen, then the DNC is free to put its political weight behind the candidate chosen by the people.
The choice must be that of the people, not the preference of the committee, and there can be no suggestion otherwise.
