The Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show will bring trout, dock-leaping dogs, a TV celebrity, hunting and fishing outfitters, local outdoor clubs, business and more to the Spokane Fair and Expo Center this week.

The 56th annual event, organized by the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, will run Thursday through Sunday with more than 300 exhibitors.

Popular in the past, the Dock Dogs competition will be back this year featuring canines that chase tossed dummies off a dock. Some athletic dogs make Olympic long jumpers look like rookies before they land in the pool below. The daily competition has several divisions and events such as Big Air Wave, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve.

Kristy Titus of Team Elk, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Outdoor Channel show, will be in the Cabela’s booth on Saturday and Sunday. The elk-calling champ also will give a calling presentation.

The show includes wildlife art, not the least of which is the Trophy Country big-game display of mounts brought in by area hunters for measuring and judging.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will have exhibits at the show and staff that can provide information about programs and answer questions.

Show hours are Thursday and Friday noon to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
