Second Avenue closed near Freya for fatal crash

Second Avenue is closed near Freya Street as police investigate a fatal crash involving a motorcycle rider.

Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist lost control and hit a curb around 4 p.m., said police spokesman Cpl. Jordan Ferguson. They also said that the man may have been speeding. It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved, Ferguson said.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be released by the Spokane County medical examiner after an autopsy.

Second Avenue remained closed for several hours.
