Ex-cheer coach denies sending nude photos to teens on squad

Associated Press

SEATTLE – A former King County high school cheerleading coach has pleaded not guilty to charges that he sent nude photos of himself to two students on the cheer squad.

KCPQ-TV reports that 29-year-old Benjamin Canty was released on his own recognizance Monday after entering not guilty pleas to two counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Canty, who volunteered as a cheer coach at Kentwood High School, is accused of sending nude photos on Snapchat to two male students, who were 15 and 17. Prosecutors also say Canty offered to give the younger victim free private tumbling lessons if the boy sent him inappropriate photos in return.

A Kent School District official had reported the alleged misconduct to authorities in August.
