Whitworth’s Wes Walton earned All-America status when he placed seventh in the men’s 200-yard individual medley on Wednesday at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Walton posted a time of 1 minute, 50.63 seconds in the finals. He made it to the finals by clocking a 1:49.64 in a morning preliminary heat.
Whitworth is tied for 15th place with 15 points after the first day.
The meet continues Thursday.
Whitworth Pirates senior George Valle earned All-America honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Valle, a third-team choice, finished his career with 1,440 points – seventh on Whitworth’s all-time scoring list.
