College track and field: WSU’s Thane Pierson, Lateah Holmes win high jump at USC Invite
LOS ANGELES – Washington State senior high jumpers Thane Pierson and Lateah Holmes topped the field Saturday during the USC Trojan Invitational at Loker Stadium-Cromwell Field.
Pierson cleared 6 feet, 11 3/4 inches to win the men’s title. Freshman teammate Peyton Fredrickson placed fifth at 6-6 3/4.
Holmes cleared 5-7 to win the women’s title. WSU senior Audrey Ketcham was third at 5-5.
Cougars redshirt sophomore Brad Stevens won the men’s javelin with a throw of 223-5.
WSU’s women’s 4x100-meter relay team placed second in 45.34 seconds. The host Trojans won in 44.41.
The Cougars’ men’s 4x100 relay finished in 40.51 for third place. USC (39.93) also won that race.
