DEXTER LAKE, Oregon – Gonzaga’s women’s rowing team opened the season Saturday by sweeping five races against Oregon State.
The Bulldogs took a narrow victory over the Beavers in the Varsity 8 race. GU finished the 2,000-meter course in 6 minutes, 38.69 seconds. OSU crossed in 6:41.02.
The teams had great conditions with only a slight headwind.
“The coaches were very pleased with how the boats performed this first race of the season,” GU head coach Glenn Putyrae said. “All boats raced aggressively, and we are looking forward to getting back to work as we prepare for our upcoming season.”
