Girl killed in Mead accident Saturday identified as Lilly Slayton

A girl hit by a truck while crossing a street in Mead Saturday was identified Monday as Lilly Slayton, 16.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s office said Slayton died of injuries from the incident at North Market Street and East Second Avenue.

An elderly man was driving a Jeep SUV south on Market when he hit Slayton just before 2:30 p.m., the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said this weekend. The girl died at the scene.

A girl was killed when she was hit by a truck while crossing the street in Mead just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The driver of the Jeep and a passenger weren’t hurt, the Sheriff’s office said. Deputy Mark Gregory said Monday that an investigation is still under way.
