Valley council sneaky

Since the city of Spokane Valley first incorporated, I have not witnessed a sneakier council as I have these past three months. It appears to have started when Rod Higgins became mayor along with the election of Sam Wood. These two appear to have teamed up with Arne Woodard and Ed Pace to push an undisclosed agenda. These four have been pushing through agendas, in my option, without giving the public or other council members adequate notice.

The firing of City Manager Mike Jackson wasn’t made public until a day before and the only explanation Rod Higgins gave after these four voted to fire him was that there was a “diverging opinions on which direction to take the city.”

They also passed two letters of support for state Senate bills without adequate discussion: one would allow agricultural water rights to be sold/transferred to municipal water districts at a profit. Wood is the chairman of the board of Carnhope Irrigation District. The other was to block the state from allowing transgender individuals the right to use the bathroom in which they identify.

When asked for more discussion time, Ed Pace stated they must be voted on at that time.
