All-State basketball players named in Washington, Idaho

Four area prep basketball players were accorded player of the year honors by the Associated Press on Wednesday.

Sophomore Lexi Hull of Central Valley and seniors Trevon Allen of Clarkston, Dallas Isaak of Almira/Coulee-Hartline and Zoe Moser of Colton were named the top players for their respective classifications.

Hull led CV to a 28-0 record and the State 4A championship; Allen, who signed with the University of Idaho, led Clarkston to a repeat in 2A; Moser was instrumental in Colton winning its eight straight 1B title; and Isaak led ACH to a runner-up finish after quarterbacking the Warriors to the eight-man title in football.

Malachi Flynn of Bellarmine Prep, who recently gave Washington State University an oral commitment, was named the overall player of the year for all classifications in boys.

Riley Lupfer of Lewis and Clark and Ryan Ricks of Northwest Christian were named to first teams. Lupfer has signed with Boise State.

Players named honorable mention were: Chase Burnham of Liberty; Matt Holbrook of Garfield-Palouse; Rachel Bozlee of Northwest Christian; Hailey Higashi of St. George’s; and Demi Jo Vaughn and Shania Graham of Republic.

In Idaho, junior Allison Kirby, who led Timberlake to the 3A state title, was named POY for her classification. She was a first team selection a year ago.

Timberlake junior Keelie Lawler was named to the first team for a third straight year.

Madi Schoening of Sandpoint was named to the 4A first team. Schoening, who is headed to Montana, led Sandpoint to third.

Post Falls senior Max McCullough was named to the 5A second team.

Sandpoint sophomore Grace Kirscher was named to the 4A second team.

Sophomore Melody Kempton of Post Falls, junior Nina Carlson and senior Whitney Meier of Lake City were named to the 5A second team.

St. Maries junior Jake Sieler was named to the 2A second team. Senior Caleb Symons of Genesis Prep was named to the 1A Division II second team. Lakeside junior Lillian Rhea and Mullan senior Charli Sadler were named to the 1A Division II second team.
