Wanted domestic violence suspect arrested

From staff reports

Spokane police arrested domestic violence suspect Aaron W. Strom late Sunday night outside Cheney.

Strom, 35, faces a felony charge for violating a domestic violence protection order and has a warrant for misdemeanor assault.

Police received a call Sunday from a domestic violence victim in the area of 5100 W. Ridgecrest Drive. Her boyfriend, Strom, was armed with a handgun and had threatened to kill himself or shoot at police to force them to shoot him, police said.

The victim got inside her house to safety and the suspect abandoned his vehicle before officers arrived, police said.

Officers found a replica firearm in the vehicle.

Officers searched the neighborhood for nearly three hours. The search was called off about 3 p.m.

The Cheney Police Department assisted with the arrest.
