Dave Laird, Commuity Comment, RIP

JeanieSpokane reports to Huckleberries Online that Dave Laird, who helped produced the Community Comment blog for the Spokesman-Review for quite awhile, has died. For years, Dave was also part of this blog’s comment section and attend several Blogfests. Here’s what Jeanie wrote:

“I wanted you to know that Dave Laird passed away today (Saturday, April 30). He was doing pretty good and had started writing again for himself.  Last week he had a “touch” of pneumonia and the hospital sent him home with antibiotics.  He went into cardiac arrest Monday. … He has never fully recuperated from all the stuff that happened a couple years ago, when both of us lost our urge to write.  Just a few weeks ago, the paper sent him an email that Community Comment would be pulled down.  I’ll post one more time to it. He would always tell me “It’s another day in paradise!” and I believe that is what he is doing now, enjoying paradise for days without end. He was a good friend.  I know he annoyed people but he was a unique, kind gentleman.”
