Missing Spokane teen found safe in Ohio

A missing Spokane teenager was found safe at a rest stop outside of Columbus, Ohio.

Spokane police put out an Amber Alert for 16-year-old Kiera Inman on Monday, saying she appeared to have run away with Zachary Wayne Jones, a 30-year-old man she met online.

Her grandmother, Sheila M. Brizius was driving to Ohio Wednesday morning to pick up Inman. Police said Inman and Jones were being cooperative, Brizius said. She believes a police officer found the pair sleeping in their car at a rest stop. Although Brizius hasn’t spoken to Inman yet, she believes Inman is unharmed.

Inman’s mother said her daughter, a sophomore at Rogers High School, is shy and trusting. She is also developmentally delayed.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol located Inman with Jones, the Spokane Police Department said on Twitter. Ohio authorities have Jones in custody and will determine what charges he may face. Spokane police are working with Ohio authorities to bring Inman home.

In the car with Brizius are Inman’s two dogs, a Maltese terrier and a bichon.

“She’s going to be happy to see her puppies,” Brizius said.
