Valley Council seat vacancies open for applications

From staff reports

Applications are being accepted for two seats on the Spokane Valley City Council, left vacant by the recent resignations of Dean Grafos and Chuck Hafner.

Applicants must be United States citizens, 18 years or older, registered voters and have lived in Spokane Valley for at least a year prior to applying.

Applicants cannot be convicted felons (unless their civil rights have been restored) and may not hold office or employment within Spokane Valley government.

Selected applicants will serve as interim council members until the general election in 2017, at which point they can run for office.

The last time the council filled a seat by appointment, there were 18 applicants.

An application may be downloaded from www.spokanevalley.org or picked up at City Hall. A paper copy must be submitted to City Hall no later than 4 p.m. on May 13. Applications will not be accepted via fax or email.

Spokane Valley City Hall is located at 11707 E. Sprague Ave. For more information, call (509) 720-5102.
