Fired Spokane Valley city manager is Yakima finalist
YAKIMA, Wash. - Fired Spokane Valley city manager Mike Jackson is a finalist to be the next city manager in Yakima.
The Yakima City Council identifed four finalists for the job this week.
Jackson was city manager of Spokane Valley for six years before a newly elected City Council forced his resignation earlier this year. In late April, the Spokane Valley City Council paid Jackson a severance package worth more than $400,000, the Spokesman-Review reported.
Randy Beehler, a Yakima spokesman, said the job was posted in late February and technically remains open until it’s filled.
“The first review date was April 3,” Beehler said. Jackson was asked to resign by the Spokane Valley City Council om Feb. 23.
