Coeur d’Alene Tribe members elect council leaders
Two women won election to the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council over the weekend.
Incumbent Charlotte Nilson was re-elected to a fourth consecutive term. Leta Campbell, who previously served three terms, will rejoin the council. Campbell works for the tribe’s Benewah Medical Center.
At the swearing-in ceremony, the council picked executive officers. The seven-member council unanimously re-elected Chief J. Allan to another year as chairman of the tribe. Allan has held the position since 2005.
Ernie Stensgar keeps his position of vice chairman, and Donald Sczenski will continue as secretary.
Alfred Nomee stepped down from the tribal council after two terms. Nomee will continue to work as the tribe’s natural resources director.
