Idaho to get $450K from drug settlement

Idaho will receive $450,024 under a settlement announced today by Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, to settle allegations that a drug company knowingly underpaid rebates owed through Medicaid from 2001 to 2006. The case involves Wyeth, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pfizer, Inc., which was the target of two whistleblower lawsuits; eventually, the United States, the District of Columbia, and 35 states, including Idaho, intervened in the suit.

The full settlement, with all parties, comes to $784.6 million. Of Idaho’s share, $312,517 will go to the state’s Medicaid program, and $137,507 will go to the state’s general fund.
