Officials mum on latest IEN snafu
On May 2, state superintendent Sherri Ybarra said she was working on a “statewide response” to the latest Idaho Education Network funding snafu. But eight days later, that’s about all we know. State officials are mum about their “response.” Or even, really, what necessitates a response. We still know this much. In late April, school districts started receiving word that they will not receive the “e-Rate” dollars they’d been expecting since 2013 or 2014. These federally administered dollars, collected through landline and cell phone bills, can cover a share of the cost of a school technology upgrade.
